Who we are
Line of Sight (LOS) is a Black, female-owned consulting firm that partners with foundations, nonprofits, public systems and other mission-driven organizations to strengthen strategy, learning, and execution in complex environments. Our work helps organizations to clarify how their work generates impact, build practical evidence and learning systems, and translate strategy into sustained action.
LOS was founded by Dr. Erika Van Buren, a nationally recognized leader in evaluation capacity building, applied research, and program and systems change strategy, with over 25 years of experience across nonprofit, philanthropic, and government sectors.
Our Approach
At Line of Sight (LOS), we combine rigor with practical and lived, operational experience. We work alongside organizations to design strategy, practices and implementation structures that reflect real operating conditions, support leadership decision-making, and strengthen credibility with funders and partners.

How We Work
1. Clarify Vision & Direction
We begin by grounding the work in purpose, framing the “why,” the “why now,” and the key decisions that need to be informed.
2. Co-Design for Alignment
Through an intentional, collaborative process, we align leadership, practitioners, and stakeholders around clear goals, implementation plans, and shared accountability.
3. Integrate Strategy, Learning & Implementation
We design strategy, theory of change, measurement, and learning systems together, while embedding reflection, CQI, and adaptive practices into day-to-day operations.
4. Support Change & Sustainability
We incorporate practical change management, leadership development and capacity building so organizations leave stronger, more aligned, and better equipped to adapt and sustain over time.
